Cacica

Cacica village where the lodge overlooks is one based on a history surrounding its salt mine. During the early 1900 `s the local county authorities were keen to bring in miners from outside the region with salt exploration experience. This led to a number of Polish mining families coming to the village and their cultural and religious values were to play a heavy influence in Cacica over the following century. The mine which sits in the middle of the village can be visited daily. Best be warned though it's a long old walk down those steps to the bottom but very rewarding when you feel your lungs benefitting from the salt air the old mine generates.

Outside of the mine you see the grand Catholic Church which is over 200 years old and again heaped in folklore. The feast of Our Lady brings thousands of visitors to Cacica every year over the period surrounding the 15 th of August.

Cacica offers several different salt baths with also sauna and massage facilities. They are highly recomended treatments for persons of all ages.

Cacica has several local shops where you will pick up your basics. However you will need to travel for 15 minutes to find your supermarkets. Large shopping malls are a 30 minute drive away in Suceava.

Several restaurants are available within Cacica offering both local and international dishes.
